| The Laigh Kirk is at the heart of the historical area of Kilmarnock just yards from the busy King Street shopping area. The tower is a 17th century survivor of two other churches. In 1801 some plaster fell from the ceiling and the congregation panicked. 29 people were killed as they rushed for the exits. The current building has some 13 exits. There is a covenanter memorial in the churchyard. |
