| Irvine Harbour has a number of attractions from the Scottish Maritime Museum to the popular Magnum Leisure Centre and the futuristic dome of the Big Idea. The Big Idea was built on the Ardeer Peninsula accessed by the Bridge of Scottish Invention, a special roll-back design which can be opened to allow ships to pass. The Big Idea housed a number of interactive exhibits which celebrate the work of inventors. It was developed as a Millennium Project. It closed to visitors in September 2003. |
