| Crossraguel Abbey 1244 was founded by the Earl of Carrick. It was inhabited by the monks until 1592. It has links with Robert Bruce. It also has links with Dunure Castle where the Commendator of Crossraguel Abbey was roasted during a feud over the Abbey lands. The remains of the Abbey date mostly from the 16th century. You can visit Crossraguel during the summer when it is open to visitors. |
