| Burns Cottage in Alloway is the birthplace of Scotland's Bard Robert Burns. The cottage was built by Burn's father William Burnes in 1758. Robert Burns was born here January 25th 1759. The cottage was restored to its original look in 1993 using traditional materials. You can tour the cottage and get a feel for what life must have been like for the young Rabbie. The neighbouring museum has a fine collection of manuscripts, furniture and paintings related to Burn's life. A short cycle away is Burns Monument 1823, Alloway Church and the Brig o'Doon which features in Tam o'Shanter. You can also visit the nearby Tam o'Shanter centre. |
