Ardrossan harbour was created in 1806 as part of an ambitious yet unsuccessful plan to link the town with Glasgow by canal. Today the town provides a link with Arran by ferry. As a result the town is a popular transit point for tourists on their way to Brodick. The cycle path 73 provides a link from the main Route 7 to the ferry port. The Caledonian MacBrayne ferries take around 1 hour to travel across to Brodick. Click here for timetables and fares. To learn more about walking opportunities on Arran click here.
